Sie S. Mastutors. Stilte.

Sir P. Chater usually calls on

me, though he did not do so last time.

By all means let him be asked to the

King's Garden party, if possible, and to

anything else that may be going. But I do

not think that the S. of S. or the C.0.

should take any active step towards getting

further funds out of Sir P. Chater. If he

calls here opportunity can be taken in general

conversation to shew how keenly we are inter-

ested in the Univ. and how cordially we appre-

ciate the generous contribution he has recently

made.

It is fully time that he received the

K.O.M.G. He got his nighthood in 1902 and

his C.M.G. in 1897. This step would be more

likely to prompt further benefactions than

any other.
